Name:  Cynthia

Nickname(s):  Cindy, CC, or Little One.

What types of dance have you learned?  As a child I have always danced to salsa, merengue, punta, and cumbia.  No one taught me, it was just so much fun.

What other kinds of performing have you done in your life?  I used to play the flute and I cheered for four years.

What was your first belly dance class like? I had no idea what to expect and I was very nervous.  I didn't know I could move certain parts of my body!  It was exciting.

What is your favorite Desert Lotus Tribal memory?  My favorite DLT memory would probably have to be going to SLO.  I felt that it brought us closer together.

Which was your favorite Desert Lotus Tribal performance moment so far?  My favorite DLT performance moment is when we danced at Jingle All The Way in 2006 and we made my family cry.

What was your most embarrassing performance moment?  At Cairo Carnivale in 2006 where I felt so lost during the performance and I had no idea what I was doing.  Worse yet, I got mad in front of everyone.  Also at AV Fair when I could not keep my balance while doing a backbend.

Name three dancers or troupes, past or present, who have inspired you in your dance
journey?  Krisha of course, The Indigo, and Unmata.  These women are amazing.

What is your biggest struggle in your dance life?  The time management is a struggle.  I try to balance school, family, friends, and dance.  It can get pretty stressful at times.

In what ways has belly dancing influenced your everyday life?  It has given me a lot more confidence.  It makes me feel good about myself and I don't worry about my image.

What are you doing when you’re not belly dancing?  Everyone knows that... eating of course or doing a last minute paper.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?  The same thing I'm studying for... to be an early childhood educator.

What other hobbies do you have?  I love watching movies with close friends.

Favorite music bands or artists?  I love salsa, merengue, cumbia, hip hop, and reggaeton.  I can listen to anything, but I prefer something I can move to.

Favorite movies?  I love the movies Innocent Voices and Life is Beautiful.

Favorite snack?  Anything, I love to eat, but I sure do love chips and dip.

Favorite quote(s) or saying(s)?  "Don't let the moment pass you by!"
